Externships / Preceptorships

Candidate must have interest in a veterinary career and be currently enrolled in a school requiring the externship as part of the curriculum. We have helped several veterinary technician students train with the programs at St. Petersburg College and AAHA/DEVTP. In addition, we also accept pre-veterinary and veterinary students for externships required for entry and/or graduation from veterinary school. Our externs get priority consideration for job openings!

Client Advocates

Candidate must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication and people skills. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, client service and communication, account reconciliation, multi-line phone systems, obtaining patient history, performing TPR, correctly filling prescriptions, assisting doctors in exams rooms, drawing vaccines, processing payments, and data entry.

Veterinary Assistants

Candidate must be able to multitask, have excellent patient and people skills, initiative, and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient history, performing TPR, correctly filling prescriptions, assisting doctors in exams rooms, administering injections, placing IV catheters, performing dental cleanings, assisting with surgical preparation and anesthesia monitoring, client service and communication, medical terminology and data entry, patient nursing care and husbandry.


The veterinary associate candidate must be enthusiastic, progressive, and eager to grow with us. The candidate should be comfortable with veterinary internal medicine, dentistry, radiology, and soft tissue surgery. Interest in avian and exotic medicine is a plus. The candidate must be outgoing, positive in nature, a team player, and possess excellent communication skills. Other requirement include but are not limited to, a Florida Veterinary Licensure, USDA Accreditation achieved or at least planned, and a current DEA license.

Our practice philosophy is to provide exceptional client service and patient care. We offer high standards of care for our patients and have support staff and equipment to accomplish this. Our business model includes a sister practice in Ormond Beach and a separately owned ER that operates when we are closed at this Port Orange location. We offer comprehensive 24/7/365 care for our clients and patients without having our doctors and staff work the night shifts. Our veterinarians get a fixed revolving schedule with no on-call hassles! The full-time schedule ranges 34-40 appointment hours per week. We are closed on major holidays but do have weekend hours. Part or full time schedules are available for the right candidate.
