We have been caring for animals alongside their people since 1972.
The comprehensive services we offer include, vaccinations, general medicine, digital radiology, dental radiology, dermatology, dentistry, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, laboratory, electronic health records, boarding, and on site pet medications. We see cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, pocket pets, select primates, and other exotic species.
Dr. Aman Sukhija, Medical Director
Dr. Sukhija is the owner and Medical Director of Atlantic Animal Hospitals. He purchased the Ormond Beach office in July 2005 and opened the Port Orange location in February 2010. Dr. Sukhija did his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and graduated in 1997. He attended Ross University and Purdue University Schools of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2001. Dr. Sukhija has been involved with many organizations including AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) and the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) since 1998. He served as Secretary/Treasurer on the AAHA Board of Directors from 2012 to 2014. Dr. Sukhija has been a member of the FVMA (Florida Veterinary Medical Association) since 2005, and the VFVMA (Volusia Flagler Veterinary Medical Association) since 2006, of which he is a Past President. He has also been on the Board of the CATalyst Council, a national organization charged with improving the care cats receive, and was also a Trustee for the AAHA Foundation.
Dr. Maggie Carlson, Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Carlson was born in Ohio but grew up on a hobby farm in North Dakota. She got her first veterinary job at age 16 after years of pet sitting and taking care of her own animals. She acheived her Bachelors of Science in Microbiology at NDSU – Go Bison! She was then accepted at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at Iowa State University. Dr. Carlson has a special interest in dentistry and exotics. When she’s not busy taking care of patients, she enjoys reading,?horseback riding, and spending time with her home zoo, which includes horses, dogs, cats, birds, and fish.
Dr. Lynn Wilson, Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Wilson was born and raised in Hobart, Indiana. She earned her undergraduate degree at Indiana University and then attended Ross University and Washington State University, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1999. Dr. Wilson spent six years as a relief veterinarian and also as staff veterinarian at Halifax Humane Society. She performed surgeries, managed the medical care of the shelter animals and worked with animal control and local law enforcement in the investigations of neglect, cruelty and dog fighting cases in our area. Dr Wilson has special interests in shelter and forensic medicine, pain management and her greatest love, feline medicine and behavior. She is a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management and is a board member of a local association, Hush Puppy Haven, whose mission is to foster animals for women entering domestic abuse shelters. In her free time, Dr. Wilson enjoys yoga, gardening, photography and caring for her five cats and various reptiles.
Melissa Murphy, Practice Manager
Melissa is originally from Corning, New York and moved to Florida in the summer of 2008 after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Science and Management. While she was in college, Melissa helped to manage a large riding facility housing more than 40 horses. She also took major leadership roles in various on-campus horse-related clubs, including becoming captain of the vaulting team and vice president of the Equine Performance Organization. She eventually plans on attending the University of Florida to earn a Master’s degree in Equine Reproduction. Until that time comes, she is happy to have found her niche at Atlantic Animal Hospitals where she is a jack of all trades, absorbing everything she can of the veterinary field. Melissa’s furry children include brother and sister domestic shorthair cats, Bilbo and Midget, and Maine Coon cat Maximus. In her free time, Melissa enjoys reading, photography, horseback riding, and visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Katherine Ebrill, Office Manager & Veterinary Assistant
Katherine was born in Caracas, Venezuela and spent most of her childhood between Mexico and Brazil. She attended Father Lopez High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in the animal field after volunteering at a local Humane Society for 2 years. Her junior year of High School, Katherine began volunteering at a local large and small animal vet practice, where she was then hired in 2008 after graduating. After two years, Katherine moved on to another local vet clinic where she worked for 5 and a half years as a technician and Shift Lead. Katherine shares her home with her four dogs (Boosa, Sasha, Daisy, and Ruger), two cats (Phantom and Scout), and bunny (Blueberry). She also has several horses and potbelly pigs. In her spare time, Katherine enjoys outdoor activities with her dogs, going to barrel races and horse shows, and spending time with her friends and family.
Sarah Rowcliffe, Shift Leader & Certified Veterinary Technician
Sarah was born and raised in Bear, Delaware and moved to St. Cloud Florida in 2008. She graduated from Harmony High School in 2011 and attended the University of Central Florida for 2 years before realizing the path she wanted to take was in veterinary medicine. Sarah is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Saint Petersburg College. Prior to joining our team, she has 3 years of experience as a kennel technician/veterinary assistant at another animal hospital. She plans on completing her degree and becoming a Certified Technician within the next couple of years. Currently Sarah resides in her new home of Daytona Beach, Florida with her Boyfriend’s grandma and her Irish Setter, Jake. During her spare time she really enjoys being able to relax with family and friends, going to the beach, going for walks, and taking bike rides.
Breunna Livingston, Veterinary Assistant
Breunna was born and raised in the beautiful city of Atlanta, GA. Growing up, she always expressed a passion and interest in the care and welfare of animals, particularly dogs. Upon graduation from high ?school, she attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She has gained her animal experience through working in a pet store, shadowing vet technicians and veterinarians, and volunteering at local animal shelters. At home, she enjoys the company of her goofy dog, Kilo, and her laid-back turtle, Tre Donatello. Breunna is eager to expand her veterinary medicine knowledge as well as getting closer to finding her niche in the animal medicine field.
Lindsey Webster, Kennel Assistant
Lindsey Webster was born in Clarksville Tennessee, but she moved around a lot as a child. Eventually, she moved down to Florida so her family could care for her great grandmother and she has spent most of her ?childhood in or around Port Orange. Lindsey knew she had wanted to work with animals since the early age of 5 and working in a veterinary clinic seemed like the right path to take. After completing her AA in Daytona State College, she will be enrolling into St. Petersburg College where she plans to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys caring for and playing with her iguana, dog, cat, and aquarium. She also loves playing multiple musical instruments, painting, crafting, and doing many outdoor activities.
Amanda Bowman, Veterinary Assistant
Amanda was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned her Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology at The Vet Tech Institute. Amanda moved to Port Orange, FL in October 2014, sadly leaving behind her parents, younger brother, and Japanese chin, “Baby”. She completed a two month internship at Edgewater Animal Shelter, which was a wonderful learning experience for her. Amanda’s goals are to become a Certified Veterinary Technician and further her education by majoring in Animal Behavior. She hopes to seek a career in training marine mammals after that. In her free time, she enjoys anything that involves the water, spending time with her family and friends, and playing and watching sports. (Especially the Pittsburgh Penguins!)
Amanda Brock, Client Advocate & Team Mentor
Amanda was born and raised in Florida. She has always enjoyed working with animals and feels that the veterinary field is the perfect fit for her. She is a huge fan of reptiles and exotics, as well as horses. She lives in Port Orange with her boyfriend and small zoo of critters including a Bearded Dragon, Ball Python, two Geckos, three Sugar Gliders, and their dog, Annie. In her spare time she loves camping, hiking, sculpting and painting.
Caitlin Burmil, Client Advocate
Caitlin grew up in North Jersey. Being a northern girl, she has always loved the outdoors but not so much the cold, which is what brought her to Florida. She has always had a soft spot for animals and so she began pursuing a career in the veterinary field. Caitlin began working at a pet store/kennel, then went to an animal clinic working as a veterinary assistant and receptionist where she also gained emergency veterinary experience. She then took a leave of absence to work from home and spend more time with her first daughter. In 2015, Caitlin moved to the sunshine state and began working in the veterinary field once more. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys spending time with her husband Eric, two daughters Leilani and Maile (“My-Lee”), and her two loveable dogs Enzo and Zeus. In the near future, Caitlin plans to return to school to acquire a degree in business.
Leah Dever, Client Advocate
Leah was born and raised in Port Orange, FL. She was a flight attendant traveling the friendly skies, then she realized that she wanted to work with animals since they are what make her truly happy. She is currently enrolled at Animal Behavior College where she is studying for her Veterinary Assistant certification. She enjoys the company of her 3 cats, Harvey (an orange tabby), Layla (a torti ragdoll), and Shiner (a ragdoll/Siamese mix). She looks forward to expanding her knowledge and career here at Atlantic Animal Hospitals.
Jenny Gilmour, Veterinary Assistant
Jenny and her four siblings have lived in the area their whole lives. She attended Warner Christian Academy until the 7th grade and then made the decision to do home schooling until graduating from high school. Afterwards, Jenny attended Daytona State College majoring in art and graphic design. Jenny’s dog was diagnosed with diabetes last year, and this prompted her to have a change of heart, career wise. So Jenny enrolled at the Institute of Technical Arts, where she just graduated from with a diploma in Veterinary Assisting, this past March. Jenny has always been a lover of animals, both big and small. She has rescued all of her pets from a local shelter, as well as fostered numerous species over the years. Although she does not have any pets at the moment, she cannot wait for the next one to “find her”. Jenny hopes to further her education by becoming certified as a Veterinary Technician in the near future. She aspires to work in wildlife rehabilitation and/or at a zoo.
Erin Hansard, Veterinary Assistant & Team Mentor
Erin is a born and raised Floridian! From the get-go she has always loved animals; mostly the furry ones. Currently she is in school finishing her Associates degree at Daytona State and then plans on transferring to St. Pete College to enroll into their distance program to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She is has a German Wire-haired Pointer named Elliott and two horses named Solo and Breezy. In her free time she enjoys taking her dog to the beach, going to barrel racing shows with her horses, and just relaxing with friends and family.
Melanie Jenkins, Veterinary Assistant
Melanie is a rare ‘born and raised’ Floridian. She really enjoys working with animals and got her start in the veterinary field as a kennel assistant at another hospital. She has an associate’s degree from Daytona State College and plans to go back to school to further her education. She loves going to different sushi restaurants and trying new things. Melanie also loves watching movies and going nature walks with her dog Xamir.
Stacey Lather, Kennel Assistant
Stacey is proud to say she was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida. She has always had a huge heart for animals and knew she wanted a career in the veterinary field. This is currently Stacey’s first job ?at a veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant but she has had some previous experience volunteering with the local Arni Foundation. She recently got accepted into the Veterinary Technician program at Eastern ?Florida State College where she plans to become a certified Veterinary Technician.
