DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY

At Atlantic Animal Hospital, we are constantly striving to better serve our patients. Digital radiographs (x-rays) are helpful in diagnosing our patients, as they are a non-invasive way to view the inside of a patient. Our radiography system performs digital image capturing and processing without handling cassettes, film, or toxic chemicals. Digital imaging gives us a high quality radiograph for diagnostic purposes with ONLY ONE EXPOSURE, minimizing radiation exposure to your companion animal. We email our digital x-ray images to board-certified radiologists in California or cardiologists in Gainesville, Florida for consultation with case information and receive feedback immediately. Our experienced and compassionate team carefully handles your companion animal during radiology procedures. Finally, we will put the digital films and viewer program on a CD for you to take home or to the specialist.

Just 6 seconds after exposures, the image is ready for viewing and we are then able to:
-Crop image
-View image histogram
-Invert image
-Convert image to different formats (JPEG/DICOM)
-Magnify image
-Mark, label, and measure image components

Other radiology procedures include but are not limited to:
Contrast Studies
     -Cystograms
     -Intervenes Pyelograms (IVP's)
     -Barium studies
Orthopedic Foundation For Animals, Inc. (OFA) certification
Penn-Hip X-Rays

Please note that to attain appropriate views and diagnostic radiographs, sedation may be needed. If we do need to sedate your companion, we will seek your permission prior to administration. Please click here to schedule an exam to see if x-rays are indicated.
